Good luck! I have EEs, Mottled Cochins, and Buff Barred Cochins hatching today!
congrats all. please post pics soon
I went into lockdown last night too! Estimated hatch on Wednesday. This is my very first time hatching eggs!! I can't concentrate on anything else right now! I'm having baby chick dreams every night too!! It's a long time til Wednesday!
Question: On some other threads, people mentioned chicks sitting on the thermometer. All along I've rested the thermy on top of the eggs, but knowing they will hatch and knock it off and then sit on it- I thought I'd tape it to the window [in the ceiling of the bator] I'm using a styrofoam hovabator. So, being up high like that, can I expect the temps. to be a little higher, like 101- 102 ? I would think the humidity wouldn't be as affected.
Idk the humidity and temp are right lots of moisture
Quote:It looks good from here!
Keep it high just like that through the hatch & leave the chicks in there if others have pipped.
Thanks midget this is truly an expirement home ade bator
I'm a newbie and need all the info.
Lock down is the final 3 days of hatch when you take eggs off turner And LOCK DOWN INCUBATOR !! no opening till all have hatched
humidity levels should be in the
high sixites or seventies, right?
i'm locking down ten bbs orpingtons
I assumed that was what it was but you know what you get when you assume.
Just hadn't heard the term before.
