I totally agree it’s a illness. Also an obsession. I have 8 but I feel like I need two more for a nice even ten. The husband is like you are already over by doubleI have to say, I'm deep into raising my 3rd set of chicks since March, and I'm completely exhausted. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. So 19 chickens later, a lovely coop with covered run, a rooster hut, and an A-frame for the babies, I don't think I'll be suckered in to getting chicks for awhile. Even though it's been exhausting, i absolutely love my chickens. And fortunately, i have a very handy husband who put up with my temporary chicken insanity. It truly is an illness.
She looks like she has eyebrows. Too cuteThat is why I tell everyone how many I have - 3, and that the city only allows 3.
Helps me to not get out of control.
Of course chicken sitting is not part of chicken math. My friend down the street is off to a wedding up north. So I currently have an extra flock of 2 until Sunday.
I’m trying hard not to name them so I won’t be tempted to keep them. That’s how we got our Maggie May. I borrowed her for a few days to keep our lonely chicken company.
But I couldn’t bear to give her back. She is so cute, so I told my friend I wanted to keep her.
I named her after a Rod Stewart song because she’s got a lot of fluffy feathers around her head, like Rod Stewart’s hair back in the day.
She’s the one on the right. View attachment 3576419
