Went to my first quilting class.....

Very nice! One warning...quilting is like the movie The Matrix...remember how they start seeing everything in "code"? Well, you'll start seeing all fabric for their quilting possibilities!

Those quick cutting techniques have me mostly confused. I should research them more.

Hey, my sister and hubby may be moving to Japan, he'll find out in the next month or so and she wants to learn to quilt. Did you take the class on Base?

wow I could never do that much less on my first class

Tammy, I did take this quilting class on base. THe lady offers it every month with a different project each month. She also does classes in her home too. Finally I have something I *want* to do here, lol! If your sis and BIL go to mainland Japan, I am sure they will have quilting classes there too.

AK, its not too hard if you have a basic understanding of sewing!

Congratulations! You'll have so much fun now! I've been quilting for about 24 years and just now am learning to use a sewing machine. I have never sewn clothing at all, couldnt use a machine. Previously, I've done everything by hand from start to finish, but carpal tunnel and possibly now rheumatoid arthritis, caused me to quit. Since my wonderful friends gave me a computerized Brother sewing machine, I've been machine piecing and it sure goes faster, though I feel like I'm cheating, LOL. Still want to quilt by hand, though, since I like the looks of that better.

Wow! What a lovely quilt for a first class. My first class was last November. It was based on the 12 Days of Christmas and we made quite a few things. I've quilted for years but did all handquilting. My daughter in NC got me started on machine quilting. We leave Wednesday for a two week trip and as soon as I get back I have a machine quilting class two days later. I'm just learning on my own so thought a class would be better. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for all the compliments! They have a patchwork guild that I am thinking of joining. I figure the more things I have to occupy my time, our time here on "The Rock" will go by faster. I want chickens again!

Baustin,

We lived in Jacksonville, NC for 6 years. We figure we will be heading back at least one more time before DH retires.

Great job, I am a crow so that second quilt is right up my alley.

I know Scrambled already asked you to come join the block swaps, I just wanted to say everyone is welcomed to come and swap with us regulars. Who knows if you like it you might just stay around.
