Went to shovel poop, got a surprise!

First egg from one of my girls! I have 3 BRs and 1 Black Australorp who are literally 20 weeks + 2 days old. Not sure who did the deed but that sure made shoveling the poop a lot easier, lol! It's kind of a weird gray/green color - I thought BRs made brown eggs, so maybe it's the other one, I don't know.

What's funny is I had been contemplating making them a different kind of nest box. They're in an A-frame chicken tractor with just a square foot box that has a 4" tall edge. Didn't seem to phase them at all - the egg was actually IN there.

Me too. Well, this will be fun to see what else comes out, ha ha! Here's a pic of the suspect at 15 weeks - she's mostly black but has turquoise in some of her feathers.

BAs also lay brown eggs...My BAs eggs are a little darker and smoother than the BRs were.

that is a way better surprise shoveling poop than one would usually expect!
