Went to TSC for supplies! HA!

how did you only get 2? our TSC will only let you buy 6 or more. we would live to have 2 more, but not 6.

Have you considered splitting with anyone? I seen a craigslist ad stating basically what you want: "Anyone want to split an order of chicks @ TSC?". Just a thought. I just bought six myself, but would maybe like to increase that amount by a couple later on. I wouldn't be able to take on six more.

Ours has the 6 minimum signs as well. . .but if you let them know you already have chickens and know what your doing, then they have no problem selling them to you. I think the minimum is just to try and prevent people from getting 1 chick because it's cute and then not have the means to care for the chick - no one said anything when I only got 2 silkie chicks.

In our area, they are more expensive than the small farm stores. Wonder why?

New Hampshire has a law that you have to by chicks by the dozen. The farm stores sell injectable antibiotics for all kinds of animals but not the syringes! I know they are worried about intravenous drug users but if you want a syringe anyone can get them online.

The economy is so bad that families are living under bridges and they are worrying about chickens!! Go figure.

Our TSC has no minimum, and I brought home two Golden Comet pullets today to add to our brood of five chicks. I am done, I SWEAR it!

I was told that GA law says they can't sell less than 6. (How true that is, I don't know.) Our TSC has a minimum of 6 as well, but I found someone with some sense and told them I had gotten some that were shipped from somewhere else and two died in shipping. They agreed to sell me only two but rang them up as ducks (which have a 2 minimum) so it wouldn't raise any eyebrows.

When I bought my two Faverolles the breeder was concerned about there only being two until I told him I already had nine at home in the brooder to keep them company. They're so social, I think a 2 chick minimum is way too low, what if one dies? Then you have a lonely chick.

we went to tsc for supplies too - right on the day they got their chicks in - i got their bantam assorted as well as some red sex link, rir...and they had a 6 minimum on their bantams...mine were actually pity-chicks though...i have eggs in the bator and my hubby felt bad for my long face on account i started with 24 and only had 7 remaining - so he wanted to cheer me up and told me i could get a few....now i'm trying for a pity-camera!

I never knew TSC had a chick minimum until now.....I was able to buy 2 with no problem. Maybe because I said I had 10 chicks at home already? Not sure but the cashier opened the box and saw just two chickies in there and didn't say a word

Actually most of the stores that have a six chick minimum it is a state law. I know Ohio and Kentucky both require at least six to be purchased. If we don't sell you six, we get in trouble with the state. Trust me, they do moniter it.
