Went to TSC today,no ducklings, but instead an interesting encounter

Yeah, But I dont like being disrespectful, and even though he deserved it, me being a minor would have been seen as very rude talking to a 40 - 50 y/o man like i wanted to.

You are rude calling me old. I'm older than that.

Really, You perceived him as being rude, maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. Maybe he perceived you as a snot nosed kid that ignores signs regarding merchandise in a store.

You don't know his background and he doesn't know yours.

As much as it annoys me when people don't treat animals right, it also annoys me when people treat young folks with disrespect. I'm 36, just for the record, but I still remember the frustration of being a responsible, knowledgeable, respectful young person and being treated like dirt half the time by strangers. So, anyway, I'm sorry you had that experience, and I'm very impressed that you responded with such maturity. A lot of adults could learn from that.

Now that I have as many gray hairs as brown (yeah, I know, that's a lot of gray for 36 years, but I started at 18, so I've had some time to develop the distinguished color), folks tend to treat me with a fair amount of respect.

So some of you seem to think that just because you raise poultry that the store policy somehow doesn't apply to you?

Who's saying that, Randy? No one here thinks the policy doesn't apply to them, she wasn't doing what the sign said people weren't supposed to and some busybody thought it was somehow their job to call her on something she hadn't done to begin with. People are saying it wasn't the guy's job to enforce rules that no one had broken to begin with, and he was being a pain by policing a store he doesn't even work in and not bothering to find out she has experience with poultry before razzing her.

Wow you guys, Im sorry if yall took offence at me thinking "40 - 50 " Is old, But hey, it is to me. My parents are in that range , lol, and I call my dad an old geezer all the time. I didnt mean it is a disrespectful way, I was just stating that he as my elder should be respected by me, a minor, no matter that he had rude behavior or the fact that he was a stranger.

And Im not saying the rules dont apply to me as a poultry raiser - I respect the rules since they keep little "snot nosed" kids hands out of the duckling bin and keep the animals safe.

I did not Kiss, Nuzzle, or even bring the animals close to my face since I dont want to accidentally spread anything to my animals at home. I used Germ X each time I left a bin. Heck, Half the time I was looking at the chicks I was inspecting the numerous injuries to combs and feathers. I picked up and counted at least a dozen bleeding chicks. Thats why Im going over there asap when the ducklings come in.

And for the record iamacuriouscat - I have three gray hairs in my bangs and a few more scattered through my hair. My mom likes to make fun of me for it lol. SHe even plucked a few and put them in a scrapbook!

And before i forget to mention, Im pretty confident in the guy not having a very well knowing background. I was listening in on a loud conversation he was having with a rude worker and he not only agreed with her that ducklings ONLY need to be fed cracked corn, But he called Buff orpington chicks silkies. ( probably after hearing me and my sister discuss why i didnt want a breed of chicken that i would have to worry about flying up into the trees. ) I didnt bother to correct him since I would rather not seemed like a snotty nosed , know it all brat. I just smiled as I left and said "have anice night!".
