That's a relief! I have never read anywhere that red in the comb is for sure a roo once they reach a certain age. It seems that feathering is more of a factor. All three of these chicks had feathers early! I guess if the comb turns red very early on, it's probably a roo, but later is okay.
 
can you explain in more detail or post a picture of a "bubblegum" comb? My mystery guy (also potentially from schlect) has a comb that doesn't quite fit any discription I can find. It kind of looks like a "V" comb - but I'm not sure how those start out. Your birds have very pretty coloring!
