welcome!! my first recommendation would be to check for any ordinances regarding chickens in your area that may have already passed or trying to pass especially while you are in urban area.....and maybe consider quail if chicken ordinances are too restrictive. theres a lot a lot of great resources as well as people here!!! :lau
 
Welcome! And coming from someone who went from downtown NYC, to downtown Washington DC, to 20 acres outside of Charlotte, NC... get to that dream house sooner or later and get out of the city! OMG life is soooooo much better in the country if you don't need to be up in everyone's business and part of all the parties! You will lose a lot of "friends" in the process (and amazingly some family too)- but the friends you have left are the real ones.
