We're new peep parents...first timers...

We picked up our three buff orpingtons today at a swap meet in Denver. We chose to name them Edith, Helen and Sybil. No offense to anyone named these names.

The coop isn't even built yet-- other projects took precedences. But we go to pick up some building supplies tomorrow so I have a place for the ladies when they feather out-- which by the looks of it won't be too long at all.

So here we go! Our first chickens!

from California! You must have at least 10 posts before you can post pictures. Head on over the New Members forum in "Social" and greet some other new members, or post in "Where am I? Where are you?" section under your state. Easy peasy way to add to post count.

Buff Orps are such great chickens. When they get all growed up they are lovely, fluffy butt ladies! Your names are perfectly fine - my single BO (in a flock of many breeds) is named Buffy the Vampire Slaying Orpington. Buffy for short.

Congratulation! I love your names. I like the old-fashion names. Having chickens is so much fun. I don't know why everyone doesn't have them. It's a learning process and you'll learn as you go along. Have fun and enjoy!

Buff Opringtons, from what I've heard, are a wonderful choice! And not to worry about names- most of the BYC'ers would be thrilled to share the name of a chicken!

I agree with gryeyes, Buff Orpington's are so fluffy. I love mine.

She's by far my favorite. Her name's Butterball. Not so clever, but cute.
