We're overdrawn :(

The squeaky wheel does get the oil! I have a hubby who pays no attention to what is in the bank and have paid $99 for McDonalds because of it. If you get an understanding person, they will reverse the charges for you.

Paid for his sister too!

Like I said, we're used to the money BEING there at first thing Thursday morning.

You know, that's why we have direct deposit so we don't have to DO anything!

Sonic, McDonalds, it all costs $99!!!!! You do need to talk to the bank, it is very odd that the money was not there at 12:01 am.

Never write a check on thursday, friday or saturday. If you can never write a check.

The bank will take that check and clear it before they clear anything else. THIS IS A KNOWN FACT.

Always use your debit card to make a payment and do this no later than thursday.

If you are going to spend money during the weekend, go to the bank and withdraw what you think you will need in cash. Do this no later than Thursday.

Those McDonald hamburgers arn't worth 35 plus 1.34 dollars.

This i have learned. Usually we have enough money to do what we need. The bank is the one that will SC..W YOU.

On Tuesday morning you will get the suprise of your life if you are not careful and attentive.

ALWAYS put ANY money you have to put into the bank on Friday and if you can Monday before 2 pm, no latter. Saturdays are usually met with a closed bank.

Saturday goes to Monday business so it is worthless. Firday will go to Mondays business if you put the money in after 2pm.

The bank WILL deduct on Fridays business on saturday, be attentive. You can no longer buy something at 10 pm on friday and expect it not to be deducted until monday.

Go online and watch your pending transaction carefully. Many establishments will take a while to run through your bank even though they are marked on the day you bought.

The banks are OUT TO GET YOU and what they are doing is legal.

Take these precautions and you will not get wacked.

By having cash for the weekend, if you DO overdraw, you will only get ONE charge, not 10. Some banks will go over 10 deductions and at 35 bucks a wack it is a big deal.

The banks are making BILLIONS of dollars on this schem. They will deduct the most expensive mark first and then the rest. There is no other priority.

It is policy to deduct a written check first, the most espensive debit in order second and so on.

I once bought a bag of feed for 42 bucks thanks to BOA.

I have not written a check for 5 years. I pay online with a debit card. Checks are way to sneaky and people forget to cash them or they cash them even if you ask them not to before a certain date, most people just do not care.

If you go to a store that will not except plastic, tell them thank you and leave.
Go back another day when you have cash. DO NOT WRITE A CHECK.

Postal Money orders are a really good way to avoid bank charges. They are worth their wieght in gold and the post office is darn near reasonable. They will take you debit card !!!

Aviod Large purchases unless you have the cash or you follow the above.
Checks are no longer a preferred method of payment, the banks are counting on you to write checks. Checks can NO longer be "run ahead of". The days of writing a hot check, putting money in to cover it latter are OVER !!

Do not be a chump. Your bank is your enemy.

ONE MORE THING.

Even if you put in CASH, some banks will not reconize the deposite if you put it in after 2pm. OH, this one is the worst and more and more banks are going this route.

My bank puts deposits in BEFORE debits. I understand this is extremely rare in the banking business. We've never felt like we've gotten screwballed from them, which is why my shock that the money isn't there on schedule.
MAYBE just maybe it's not showing up in online banking, but typically they post "pending" transactions and update the balance even if it hasn't officially cleared, so it's pretty worrysome.

I actually like my bank,

which is NOT bank of america - I know exactly which one you are ranting about.

Most banks these days do the debit credit thing clear up til close time which is usually 4 pm. I got lost in that rant and have no idea what the post meant.

Rather than remember all of them rules wouldn't it just be easier to actually keep a proper checkbook register and only spend money that you actually have in the account?

But after 6 years of paydays on direct deposit with the same company and the same bank, you do get a little lazy about checking to ensure that the money has actually made it ON payday

The idea is, that instead of shopping before payday when there's no money, we wait until after business on payday . . . so we "know" there's money in the account. Har har

Well that's no fun.

My bank WF runs debits through before deposits, even direct deposits, every single time. That really seems illegal.
