West Virginia anyone?

Thanks for the info! I'm a Fairmont girl but would love to join if that's ok!

Also for all of the wonderful WV chicken owners, I am looking for silkies, cochins, frizzles, polish and phoenix chickens.  They can be chicks or any age chicken.  Looking to expand my flock.  I live in the Fairmont area. I currently have a flock of 44 which includes 2 young white silkies, 2 frizzles and 1 cochin. Not lucky enough to find any polish or phoenix locally yet and haven't taken the plunge to make a big order online.  Let me know if you know of any!  Thanks!! :)

Definitely! Please feel free to post that on the page too! If you have chicks or eggs, please mention that too! I'd like to organize a group buy from one of the hatcheries, but I've never done it and I'm hoping to get some input on the page. I do remember seeing some polish in the clarksburg area last spring? :)

I have a beautiful silkie for sale if anyone is interested. I hatched the eggs myself but they came from a breeder in California from show stock. I am thinking it is a Roo but not sure. It hatched on Christmas Eve. It has a huge pouffy crest. Right now I have 2 and one is crowing but he is a mix of show girl and silkie. This buff is pure silkie. I might be up for a trade also. Located in Roane County but willing to travel a little for the right trade. I have been looking for ducks/ducklings. This picture was taken a few weeks ago.

Chickens Morgantown WV

So who's interested in selling their extra eggs? Whether you have an extra dozen (my fellow backyard keepers!) or dozens of dozens, the market is there, AND we could make "feed money". Morgantown has no poultry "collective" or "co-op" for small producers yet, so maybe we should start one?
The paperwork to be a small producer (less than 150 dozen/week) is minimal and free; I'm filing, and would be happy to help anyone else who'd like to. NPIP is also a possibility, just a little more detailed.
I'd appreciate any input, share it up so we can reach all those chicken keepers hiding here in Motown!

Since I ended up with 2 silkie boys and I can't seem to get rid of them, would anyone have a couple silkie hens they can part with? Would like any color but white and would prefer at least 6 months old but it would put my mind at ease if there were already laying so I know they are hens. I am in Roane County but willing to drive.

Hello all! It is nice to see so many people from West Virginia on here. I am in Barbour County. I currently have a flock of 13 RIR, 1 roo and 12 hens. I have 24 eggs in the incubator now. They should hatch next week sometime. I am so excited! I am also planning to expand to other breeds in the near future, probably Brahmas. I am also just starting to get into raising meat rabbits. I am hoping to have my cages up and ready for rabbits within the next month or so. Are there any other rabbit breeders out there? I am looking for all the information I can get. I am mainly raising them for meat for my family but would also like to try to make a little bit of money with them too. It would be nice if they would atleast pay for themselves.

Is there anyone who is already NPIP certified in WV that could answer a few questions about the process?
