So i was wondering if anyone has ever owned or bred Western Capercaillie. they are the largest of the grouse species and im pretty sure they are exclusive to Europe. i did some googling and only got wild info on them. does anyone have hands on exp with this species. Danke!

I love these birds as well, but I couldn't find anyone in the U.S.A. breeding them.

Lot of people raise other grouse, but not the western capercaillie.Francy has lots of nice birds.
In N.H.,Tony.

One of these, called by its German name Auerhahn, actually plays a fairly large role in a traveling circus in the Gary Jennings' novel Spangle. They had a male and were selling "miraculous eggs" that bore the Austrian coat of arms until a rube pointed out that it was a cock-bird.

Yeah i can deff see the resemblence. I actually have a variation of this tattood on my calf, got it after i returned form Deutschland.
