If the pool is close to the bedding, and the bedding is only on one side of the pool, then you could put some plywood to block the splashes of the ducks (I don't know if chickens swim, but I noticed that ducks like to splash a lot.) The plywood would probably keep the bedding dry.

I will be filling the pool with sand and putting the water bowl in the middle of it. No swimming yet!
