I do it by myself, i think that i will do that better as if it doing anybody another. I think this is normal, for example the brother of my granfuther was a butcher, it was he`s job (i am not butcher, i do that only sometimes when i really need that).
I can`t tell that this is my favorite business - to be a butcher, but i don`t have any problems width that. I think that this is not bad, to have much fowl (for example begin to have 100, 200, 300 geeses) and sometimes to do this job. Here are only two choices: or i will do the work of a butcher sometimes and have more as 100 geeses (and they will have a nice life, walk everywhere in my garden, to be clean and to have enough good food, and only someone will be eaten, not everybody) or i will do not this work, don`t have any geeses (or have 2-3 geeses, maybe), have another job in any restaurant (for example), and in the restaurant will be the meat of a lean geeses, eated bad fodder. And the people begin to eat a bad meat (bad food) too?
If the goose will be killed, i think this is to be better if i will do that fast, because i have a normal hands like a the brother of my grandfuther, as it will to do any stupid man who will beat poor goose some minutes or hours, because he don`t know this work well. No, this is my fowl and i will do all by myself. I kill the fowl not because i like to kill, i do that because i want to have much fowl, and to do a normal life for another fowl. Nobody can live forever, the people die too.

You explain your way to see having some meat birds very well. I have tried to explain to some vegetarians that many people who raise animals for meat care for the animals. They do not always understand.

I think I could kill fish to eat without much trouble. My runner ducks don't have much meat on their bones, anyway. They are good layers and good foragers - they eat many slugs and weeds. The buffs are said to be dual purpose, meat and eggs, but they are small, too, and lay so many eggs, I will keep them for the garden and eggs. And they are all sweet and healthy.

I have an interest to this bird (i find this picture in Internet):


It have very little, but delicious eggs (i buy sometimes salad width these eggs). In our place some people have this folw, but they don`t sell (because have only some birds). I want to buy this bird too. What word are in english, what name have this bird? I don`t know when i go to the shop and buy normal dictionary )))

In this summer i had one problem width some chickens - they leave the eggs everywhere. One day i worked in the garden and find there 10 eggs... Another time i find 12, in potato! After that i begin to search the eggs and find it in my flowers, under the threes in my little park.

One another problem was the invide of the geeses to my home. It was the summer, i worked on the earth of my neighbour (he give me a free grass, i always cut it and use then). When i returnet to my house i have seen my geeses, they was on my rooms! Some geeses was on the bed. After that my muther was angry and tell me to close the doors, because the geeses always enter. I buil one another door of metal-net, and close (sometimes in the summer the weather are too hot and we open the doors).

Another time (in the spring) i did one place for the cucumbers, but my muther didn`t close the door. The geeses entered and eated all my cucumbers! I begin to plant the cucumbers again... Now i always see - the doors of the house must be closed.

But the park are good, i don`t need to cut the grass, the geeses cut it, and i have even grass everywhere, geeses are good workers ))) I think that the park will be always open for the geeses. I close only my cucumbes, lemons, tomats. I don`t close the potato - geeses don`t eat it.

That is so funny about your geese coming in your house even on the bed. Talk about making yourself at home.

If we leave the back door open my 2 geese and most of my ducks will walk right in like they are saying "What's up" got any duck food? lol We even had a chicken come through the dog door and jump on my husbands chair he was sitting on, surprise surprise lol. I have to keep the screen door closed to keep mine out. I have a dog door in the screen door but for some reason they won't come through it thank goodness.

I have a friend in town who raises quail, those look like the eggs she has. Hers are button quail, really tiny little things.

And she adopted a partridge silkie roo, and then got him a couple of hens. All so little! My runners are small, but her birds are wee little things.

We have Quail around here[wild] and I love to see them also grouse who can scare the daylights out of ya because they wait till your almost on them before they fly.

I remember the time first ideas to use quail for the food i`ve seen in Belarus (near of Rusia), 20 year ago (i was very young, we used a bus to visit a Germany, and enter to the shops in various countries there, Belarus, Polonia...). There was the eggs of this bird. I think that was a strange idea - to use this birds as a chikens. But after some years i have seen much farms yet, and one of my neighbour have the quail in he`s house as any chicken or turkey. He tell that to have this bird are not more difficult as to have a chicken. We shall see, i want to buy some. In this year i did the test - buy geeses, turkey, chickens and ducks for to understand how difficult to have the fowl. Now i begin to understand, that this is not difficult and very interesting. But quail i did not have, i will "test" it in next year )))
