My chics are getting wet and slightly matted. Cant tell if they are getting into the waterer too much or ducklings are causing a messy brooder. This might be causing hypo thermia? Thx

hi, then you need to observe and figure it out and solve the problem. If chicks are hypothermic you have a bigger problem and not much time.

Have you got chicks and ducklings in the same brooder?
 
I've learned the hard way to not house chicks and ducklings together until they are older or outside in a run with grass, the ducks make the brooder soiled faster than chicks, in my experience. Their poop is almost liquid, so it quickly soils the area. I like to house my ducklings separately or be very diligent about changing the bedding. They also seem to grow faster, and some of my day old ducklings trample the young chicks. Good luck!
