Wet wood from Home Depot...

Oh! I missed that this was p/t. Sure, wet-seeming is normal for fresh p/t wood, and you will not get good results if you paint it (for vertical legs, there is really not much of any reason TO paint or seal ANYhow).

Simpson brand fasteners branded Z-Max meet this standard. Just look for the turquoise writing on the label. Part numbers end in Z, such as ABU44Z.

Thanks for all the excellent advice everyone I'm going to go ahead with using the wood as legs and then tape it off and stain it next week when I'm sure it's dry

"Pressure treated" means it's been "cooked" UNDER PRESSURE in water filled with chemicals to preserve it.

It will NOT be "dry" for at least 6 months

It's not supposed to be dry now

I think that you're supposed to let pressure-treated lumber dry out for at least a year before you topcoat it with a paint/stain or anything like that. The good news is that you can leave it like that (uncovered) w/ no worries until you're ready to paint (the pressure-treated parts) next year.
