The 'too much sunshine' sunshine state
My rabbits are fine, I'm not worried, but this morning as I was giving them fresh hay and water I saw this on their cardboard tube:

The darker spots are solid poop.

Any ideas what could cause this?

Just weather change? We had a small cold snap a few days ago, but its warmed back up. I live in Flordia so it hardly ever gets 'cold' cold. I'd say the lowest temps we got recently were in the upper 50s.

Just curious! I don't know which rabbit it came from: I have two, an 11yo male lionhead and a 3 - 4yo female harlequin mix. Both are spayed/neutered.

Have a read at this https://rabbit.org/intermittent-soft-cecotropes-in-rabbits/

Might help your situation. :)

Thank you! It was an interesting read--I don't think I've seen that article before.

It still baffles me, because I know my rabbits aren't having those problems described...I think the exact thing it was talking about happened to my older rabbit a while ago, but I decreased his pellet intake and it went away. Plus, he's never had watery poo like this. (or my other bun for the matter) I've been giving him a small amount of pellets since and he's never had the same problem...I don't give a lot of treats, either. Probably less than they deserve, lol. So I don't think diet is playing a part in this...it hasn't changed in years.

Hm. I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on the rabbits and be sure nothing is going wrong. I know how well they hide their illnesses at times. :hmm Other than that, I'm not worrying really, I'm just curious as to what this could be. I've never seen it before.

But again, thank you. Sorry I started rambling.
