What’s everyone’s favorite breed, and why?

New to chickens so I’m absorbing, what’s everybody’s favorite breed and why?

Easter Eggers! They lay bluish eggs! And are all different colors!

I couldn't choose a favorite breed
Although, I do love Easter Eggers, Barred Rocks, Bantams, D'uccles (never owned any but they're so cute! I want a couple someday), and many more. I love EEs because they're (from what I've owned) very sweet and lay colorful eggs. Barred Rocks have lovely personalities, bantams are small and sweet, and D'uccles I mentioned. Oh, and

I'm afraid my favorite breed changes with every new arrival. BUT, I do love my Salmon Faverolles. They are friendly, docile, lovely, lay regularly and are the funniest when they run. Their feathered legs and fluffy faces make me smile every time I see them.

Also on the top of my list is my grand dame's breed, a Buff Orpington. She is also beautiful, a bit more sassy than the Favs, but still pretty sweet. It appears she is done laying, but in her day made some very nice, good-sized brown eggs.

Check with me next year, and I likely will have a new favorite or two!

I raise Rhode Island Reds for their eggs and meat. They are prolific layers of large to jumbo eggs and provide a better tasting chicken than store bought. They lay between 200-300 eggs per year for their first 2-3 years. They are also a historic American breed that has been around since the late 19th century. Mine are non-industrial birds that have been bred for quality. The color of the plumage of the traditional Rhode Island Red ranges from a lustrous deep red to almost black; the tail is mostly black. The comb can be single or rose combed that are a bright red as are the wattles and ear lobes.

I would be hard pressed to choose a favorite but I really like my white leghorns and my white rock. The leghorns are sassy, talkative little things who cannot be beat for their egg output and my little white rock is just so darn sweet and also kicks butt in the egg laying department.

ETA: why it's hard for me to pick just one!

Leghorns
They'll out lay about everything, lay earlier, and eat less food.
They're sex able early, easy keepers, forage great and stay alive free ranging.
Only down side for myself is the white eggs. A lot of people still believe farm fresh eggs have to be brown.

Chanteclers, not common, but big cold hardy dual purpose birds. Speckled Sussex hens, beautiful and friendly. Belgian d'Uccle and Easter Egger bantams. Wyandottes, any color. Easter Eggers. French Marans for chocolate colored eggs. Fayoumis for cuteness!

Chanteclers: sturdy, active, sweet, decent layers, beautiful, healthy, and cold-hardy. I have the Partridge LF and some Buff Bantams.

Leghorns: independent, incredible layers, tenacious, hardy, healthy. I have the Whites.

OEGBs are fun too.
