What’s everyone favourite ‘multi-purpose’ breed?🤔

Bielefelders and Naked Necks would be good choices. Bielefelders take awhile to grow. Naked Necks have good meat and are easy to pluck.

There's no one perfect breed for me but I love my Rhode Island Reds. They started laying at 17 weeks in the short days of winter and are now laying at the rate of about 285 eggs a year. A few of them flirt with me and come for me to pick them up.

I think the Dorking fits all of your checkpoints, maybe just a little bit less then good as an egg layer. I’ve only had one, but she laid small white eggs 4x a week. Very pretty and friendly birds. Are supposed to be very good meat birds. Definitely broody. Plus they’re a rare, heritage breed you could be helping to conserve! 😁
