Possibly Bernese Aussie crosses?

I don’t know...it seems kind of unlikely that there would just be a loose Bernese mountain dog running around a neighborhood ish area. Then again there was a lot of farm land around so who knows.

Seeing the littermates wouldn't help - every puppy in a litter can have a different father. A drive around the neighborhood would be more revealing. If you happen to see a roaming dog, that's probably Daddy!

Way way back when I was 9 my parents got me a "mutt" pup. His mother was pure Aussie and his dad was Texas heeler "mix". It was my cousins dogs that got loose at the wrong time. The father's (Texas heeler mix) mother was a red heeler and German shorthair mix and the father was pure Texas heeler with akc papers. So this mix made my Aussie mix black and brown with the gentleman's silvery goatee thing with just a small white patch on his belly. He looked very very similar to your pup except he had the wire hair that was a little longer. My cousin also paid to have all the pups tails docked. The really weird thing is that my dogs mom(pure Aussie) was a beautiful tricolor with the grays and blues and tans with the white and had black spots in some of the gray and all of the other pups besides mine were almost identical if you didn't pay close enough attention to the markings. My dog had 1 blue eye and 1 brown. But he was the only one that was black and brown and ended up with the goatee thing. And in the cold winters in Ohio he would go outside and run and dig his snout in the snow and come in with icicles hanging off his face so we always had to trim his "beard"! Lol

Edit to add-- this was years ago. I'm 28 now and Boo-Bear is no longer around. He lived a long healthy happy life. I don't have pics of him but if I did I would definitely post them.

I say Rotti, German Shepherd mix. I don't see any pit at all in him, but he is adorable. But appearances can be deceiving. If you want to know for sure, try Embark DNA test, they are the most accurate (I even got a test kit for my own dog). Either way, he is super cute. Best of luck to you and your pup!

My guess is dad is a mystery mutt, or whatever is common in your area. Labs and German Shepherds are the usual suspects. Cattle dog or hound, maybe.

Whenever he’s startled or frightened he’ll do a hound style bark. It’s hilarious because we never see it coming lol.

Whatever he is, he is cute. If it is really important to you to know what breeds he is, the only reliable way is to have a DNA test done. What a dog looks like he is and what he actually is can be very different.
