Hello everyone, and thank you for welcoming me into the community 😊 I’m fairly new to the silkie world, and have successfully hatched some Chocolates, who just started laying. What is the SOP for Cuckoo if there even is one, and should I keep him away from my hens? TIA ❤️

He looks like a cuckoo silkie cull. The lack of Fibro presentation is hard cull for a silkie, rather deal with wrong comb as that easier to breed our than lack of Fibro expression.

There's sop for breeds not colors, to my knowledge. But I I'm not sure if I'd use him for breeding, wrong skin and comb color.

Cuckoo silkies hardly show fibro presentation. The barring gene is a melanin prohibitor, so seeing one with even slightly black skin is rare. He’s okay in that aspect.
That being said, he still isn’t great for breeding. Notice the gold leakage on his chest, there’s a good chance he will pass that onto offspring, even if his daughters don’t show it, they will also produce offspring with leakage. It also means He isn’t silver gened, which isn’t ideal for cuckoo/barred birds because it gives them a greater possibility of gold leakage.

I'll admit didn't realize Cuckoo messed up the fibro gene. Personally wouldn't breed that colour with silkies but thank you for the information I'l definitely keep that in mind ☺️
