What’s trying to chew through?

Came home from a week away and found this damage done to my little silkies henny house. I have free roaming chickens on the property so there is food a plenty for rats, squirrels and other small type predators. We’ve had this hen house for years. Using it now for one rescue silkie. Can’t figure out what would being trying to get in there. I have a 12x12 coop right beside it that the squirrels tunnel into. Therefore don’t think the squirrels would be doing this.

But it also has to make it through two sets of metal fencing. Her henny house is enclosed in a dog run enclosed in metal fencing.

Get a game camera and install it facing the problem area.
It should solve your mystery.

I second the motion of getting a game camera. Most are battery operated and can be put anywhere.

Looks like a rats or squirrels they shouldn't hurt the chickens right now. But it will be annoying since you will probably have to replace the wood sooner now.

Get a camera as others have suggested. Could be anything with teeth. Ive seen a racoon take bites out of a cinderblock so a bit of wood wont stop them. BTW, dentists don't recommend taking bites out of cinderblocks so don't try it.

Oh my gosh! My daughter was thinking skunk. I just want to know so I can prepare better. Now I know not to go with cinderblocks I told my husband to get prepared to have the little henny hutch in the house
