What’s up with these funky shoulder feathers?!

None of my other chicks have ever grown weird shoulder feathers like this! Is it normal? Is it just a part of the awkward stage? Lol she’s a 5 week old ‘ameraucana’ from the feed store so basically she’s an Easter Egger right?!

I think your chick is just growing her feathers in a little differently than most, and it shouldn't be noticeble later when the wings are fully feathered. I have a chick who looked like he had 80s style shoulder pads for a long time because the top of his wings stuck out funny and the middle of the wings were slow to feather! But he looks normal now.

I see new feathers coming in and the 'baby' feathers not yet moved out of the way. So I'd say it's all going to be fine - you just have a very nice Pterodactyl! LOL

Usually if EEs have red patches of feathers on their shoulders they are boys so you may have a boy.

EEs are anything crossed with Ameruacana..It's colour is changing and they all can feather out differently..Cute Bird..

Some chicks go through very awkward stages, and this is one of them. Cute! And too soon to decide sex.
