hello again chicken lovers.

i have had my lovely bertha for quite a bit now. she is around 6-8 months old. ever since i first got her, she had this eye thing. i have done EVERYTHING i can. (well, almost anything) saline, vetrx, warm compress, etc. she used to have a pus ball in her eye, and then i started using the vetrx. that got rid of the pus but i put it in her eye, nose, underwing, and mouth. the pus came back a few days ago, but then it fell out again or it just disappeared. the pus disappeared within a day. now her eye is just cloudy and black. she is still a very happy hen, but she doesn’t lay. she does not have any sneezing, and i don’t think she can see it of it. what can i do?

This looks like the same thread you started 3 days ago. The eye looked infected with pus in the first picture. That can be a result of pecking, dirt or a foreign object in the eye, and of course, respiratory diseases, such as MG or coryza. Did she have any other respiratory symptoms such as sneezing, gasping, rattly or wheezy breathing, or lethargy?

I would get some ciprofloxacin eye drops from FirstStateVetSupply.com online or from a local vet. Flush her eye with saline if there is drainage, and dry with a tissue, then apply the drops twice a day. Terramycin eye ointment is available from feed stores to use for MG and respiratory diseases. The cipro drops would treat that plus E.coli, a common barnyard bacteria. Blindness can be common after an eye infection. I hope she gets better.

alright thank you! and no, she has not had any other symptoms.

Her eye looks grey in the second picture. The pupil is hard to see, and it doesn’t look normal. Does she seem to be able to see at all out of the right eye?

i tried some waving in front of her eye but no, she did not respond at all. is there anything i can do to make her eye become back to normal? or do you think that i will always be like that? can a chicken survive with one eye?
