What’s wrong with this egg?

One of my bantams laid an abnormally, smaller egg than usual, and when I cracked it open, it was murky and had this little fleshy inside. I do not have a rooster. I read this could be a bacterial infection. Is that what it is or is it just a random happening?

There can be little bits of tissue that come off the reproductive tract and the body thinks it’s a yolk so it adds the albumen (white) and a shell. Often called fairy or fart eggs. Not terribly common but usually nothing to worry about, happens more often in really old and new layers.

Looks like a meat spot. You can see what the Egg Quality Guide says about them in this link.

They are pretty common and nothing to worry about. Commercial operations candle their eggs before they put them in the carton so we don't see those.

This girl is about 2 years old. Can it still happen around then?
