I don't have it anymore, but my favorite ornament was a little wooden angel with peat moss hair and a beautiful little halo.

So sorry for your lossThis is a special ornament (my favorite), because I made it with the feathers I collected from my sweet Bobwhite Quail, Toffee. He passed away from very old age (heart attack and quickly passed as I was holding him one morning).
He was my first house-raised Bobwhite. Not like a typical Bobwhite at all. He was sweet, liked being held, and he just ‘fit’ so well in our family. I miss the tiny guy.
I don’t like sharing a sad story on Christmas, but this homemade ornament is by far my favorite.

I've seen them at the dollar store! But I wonder if the hole in the top is big enough to push a feather in through? That's such a great idea! I've seen those bulbs you can fill yourself but never thought of putting our beloved poultry feathers in one as a keepsake of them. That is awesome!
lol I did not know that goats would go crazy for pine trees! We don't do a real tree. Haven't in a long time. I have goats that would gobble the tree up if we did. I think some places do have goats eat them up now. They are like piranha,
My horse used to always grab a mouthful of spruce tree whenever we passed one. It surprised me that she would eat that. Goats too, I can't imagine it's tasty, but apparently evergreens are delicious.lol I did not know that goats would go crazy for pine trees!
Thank you.So sorry for your loss![]()
I lost my hen Agnes a few months ago from a supposed hawk attack. There were many feathers left at the scene, so I collected them as keepsakes. For now they are in a baggie in a drawer. But I really love the idea of putting them in an ornament to display on the tree to remember our amazing girl.![]()
Thank youThank you. It’s very much appreciated. I miss the little guy. I’m so sorry to hear about Agnes.
She sounds quite special, and she has a lovely, old-fashioned name. I love that.
When you make an Agnes ornament, please share a photo.
I have a Dottie and a Gertie too!Thank youYes, we absolutely love naming our chickies old names lol. We have a few chickens with old-fashioned names... Florence, Dorothy/Dottie, Agnes of course, Phyllis, Prudence, and Gert
Sounds good! I filled my ornament with her feathers but I still gotta write her name on it. I can't find a sharpie color appropriate for it and I also cannot find my paint pens![]()
