These are my duckies. The 3 Indian Runners are Ginger, MaryAnn and Lovey. The Mallards are Leonard and Miss Squiggy although I think I should have named her something that rhymes with "itchy". So far the runners are the winner although Mr. Leonard is quite the sweetheart. He is such the ladies man. :love

They are beautiful and because of your lovely Runners Mary Ann Ginger and Lovey I had to order 3 for me:love I had Fawn an White in the eggs that were sent with my other Runner eggs but none hatched
I just love their cute personalities. I like to call them "therapy ducks". I swear they just make me smile all day long. Thank goodness I get to work at home. Sorry some of the pics duplicated. I am not sure what I did wrong to make that happen. Oops

What’s your number 1 favorite duck breed and why ?

My number one favorite would have to be Rouens.
They’re cold hardy, they can’t fly so you don’t have to worry about them flying off somewhere, they’re okay layers, they’re very calm and quite quiet and they’re just beautiful. They're like big mammoth mallards

Now, time to tell me what your favorites are and feel free to post some pics if you have any

I’d like to place another vote for the Rouen, although I can’t agree with the description of them being “calm and quiet”! Daphne is LOUD and demanding and ridiculously impatient, but I love her to bits! She is the leader of my two younger ducks (Muscovies), and she was previously the boss of her Pekin “sister”, Margie. Daphne was very skittish when we first got her, but she became tame quickly even though she was over two years old at the time. She allowed me to treat her when she was ill, and even did well at the vet’s office. She seems to be tolerating the winter a bit better than her Muscovy buddies, and she was a great egg-layer prior to her reproductive illness. She communicates well with the Muscovies, and even thinks that she can fly, even though she really can’t. She’s just a great bird overall, and a great representative of her breed.

That being said, I think I would stick to one Rouen at a time due to her ability to quack loud enough to raise the dead.

The picture shows Daphne in the middle of her ‘Scovy buddies.

Muscovies are now my second favorite breed. They don’t get a “5 star” rating as they bite each other (and Daphne) a bit more than is polite and they aren’t tolerating the cold as well as Daphne. Otherwise, they are also excellent :)
