What’s your favourite food for putting weight back on a hen?

I am rehabbing a poorly hen (an ex-battery hen) but she didn’t eat for a week and was always on the lighter side, now very skinny. She is eating again now but doesn’t get through that much - have stuck to plain chicken feed (layers pellets) at the moment which I’ve been adding a lot of water to (it’s pretty hot at the moment and she isn’t so keen on drinking). Her droppings look great and she has been treated for parasites.

Is there anything I can give her to up the calories? Can I add oil regularly? She has vitamins in her water and I kept her going with critical care formula when she wouldn’t eat.

Give her a higher protein feed and oyster she'll on the side. Layer feed has the absolute bare minimum amount of protien a chicken needs

try adding some kicken chicken to her feed. its help my hens alot

I agree with getting a higher protein feed. Chick starter would work. Maybe a small bag.
Or scramble some eggs. Give a few sardines. etc.
