So we found Meyer hatchery, and were planning to order three D’Uccle bantams. We were blown away that the prices were so affordable and the availability of the chicks compared to the other hatchery we’ve ordered from in the past.
All good things, but I’ve begun to worry if it was too good to be true. If you’ve ordered from Meyer hatchery in the past could you please tell me what you thought of the chicks once they arrived, or of any other issue I might need to know of before I order?
Also I made a pole to see if there are more positive ratings or negative ratings, please feel free to vote!!
Thanks in advance for any and all help or advice!

We ordered 7 chicks from Meyer. They all arrived energetic the very next day. They're all alive and doing well. They're pretty friendly with the polish being the friendliest. Haven't had any cocci (yet). I noticed they put a heat pack under the packing material which is amazing. I don't know if other hatcheries do that though. I don't know how just ordering three would go but give it a shot.

Ordering from Meyers is perfectly fine..just note that the birds you order will not look a lot like the ones online:

Here are hatchery ones:

Here are what they should look like:

I ordered twice from My Pet Chicken. I think I've heard that Meyer actually fills the orders and does the shipping.

If that's true, then I'd endorse them. My first order was 6wo chicks who arrived healthy and vigorous. My second order was 1do chicks. They were 2 days in shipment and arrived in the fullness of SoCal late June heat. These chicks were also in great shape.

It's an apprehensive process but they pack them for success. So if you let your post office know they'll be coming and that you'll pick them up just as soon as you're notified of their arrival I'd say your chances -- and the chicks' -- are very good.

I ordered from them and got nine chicks in late June. It was nerve-wracking, for sure, but they all arrived all right and started eating and drinking right away. I lost my olive egger on day 3--failure to thrive. The most important thing to do is talk to your local post office so they know they're coming and ask them to call you, no matter what time, when they arrive. Have fun!

I adore Meyer, to put it simply. :) We live a little over an hour away, and have both picked up and shipped. I'd say we've owned around 30-40 of their birds in total, which would equal to about 4 separate broods on different occasions....no mistakes in filling out our orders, only one "oops" cockerel, and wonderful customer service. Not to mention that the chicks are always healthy and gorgeous. As far a quality, I'd say they're about average. Not perfect, but that's to be expected from a hatchery. You're pretty much only going to get EQ chooks from small breeders.

As a matter of fact, I couldn't resist stopping by last week to raid the overhatch bins. Ended up with a Golden Cuckoo Marans ($12.66 originally), and a Blue Orpington ($22) for a mere $2! :love

If you need any pictures of Meyer birds, or have any other questions, feel free to ask.

I don’t know if it’s still okay to ask questions, but if it is here it goes.

This might sound like a dumb question but I just want to have every thing prepared and ready for the chicks to jump into the brooder and start their new lives.
So it says the chicks will be shipped the week of 8/13/18. Does this mean the chicks will be shipped on Monday the 13, or does Meyer hatchery do it some other way with the dates? Also if they do ship on the 13, do they arrive the bext day, or a couple to a few days later?

Once again, sorry if this sounds like a dumb question!:D
