The children - friendless! DD needs to get a grip and get some chores. Elevate your expectations of the children. Expect more.
I am thinking about taking power cords to work with me one day. Let the kiddos do the chores, bike to my school to get their "payment". LOL, DH may object though....I could lock his cords in his car....thinking....

Oh they have chores but for some reason since the grandbaby came into the house they don't seem to be able to finish them.
DD got a earfull and the DS was trying to back me up but I put him in his place too. The oldest DD with the baby got the ," I had four of you and was able to keep a garden and clean house" speach! Needless to say the DD that set me off stayed home and is washing the clothes to night!!
I know this is going to sound mean but sometimes I wish they made harness for kids like they did for old plow horses. That way I could walk behind them and see the work gets done without them running away!!
It's a sad fact that we have talked about here a few times, just how far removed people are from the realities of the food they consume. They think that the beef and poultry sitting in the nice neat little glass case at the grocery store just magically appears on the little styrofoam trays all nice and clean. Little do they know the horrors that some of these poor animals do go through. Not all but most. At least your meat birds will have a good two months with the right feed, sunshine and maybe even grass under their little chicken feet. So, don't let people like that linger in your mind, she doesn't have a clue and she probably never will. Be proud that you want to provide for your family some good, wholesome food that you raised yourself. I hope you can get your egg layers soon too.
I have 20 Cornish X going to be processed next Saturday, my neighbor on one side thinks it's awesome that we are providing for ourselves, the other neighbor looked at me like I was crazy when she saw them. I know for a fact that my chicken dinner on Fathers day will far surpass hers.
Boy, I know about that inner alarm clock! It's a family curse here: me, my mom, my sister and niece. I couldn't sleep late if I went to bed at 3:00 a.m.! As for kids, you gotta love 'em, cause you can't eat 'em!
