What a difference!

I am shocked !!!!! Did you report this type of misbehavior to the USDA, The State Department of Health or even the local sheriff ? This type of behavior MUST be prosecuted for dereliction of duty and shut down as they put many peoples' health at risk and even their loss of life.

Is all of this YUCK really going on ?????? All slaughter houses are regulated by USDA and State health departments to very strict standards. All processing are inspected by USDA and/ or State licenced Veterinarians. Are they in dereleliction of duty ??? Has anyone here actually witnessed this sad state of affairs ??? If so, they are to be turned in to the law enforcement agencies for procecution as they are endangering the public's health and lives by these witnesses. When I worked for an institution of higher education as well as a private laboratory, I had occasion to go to slaughter houses to collect specimens and I never witnessed any of such claims of YUCK.

My DHs grandpa worked in one and he refused to ever eat store bought! I did my own research on commercial meats about 7 years ago. We haven't bought any since! I have only eaten what my DH kills or we what we raised and I found very disturbing things in the manner of slaughter and the things in which the animals are fed. Sure there are reputable slaughter houses I am sure but there are just as many with unsanitary and unethical conditions IMO and I refuse to ever in my whole life ever eat a commercial meat again!

Still there are people who just don't get it. My long time best friends wife refuses to eat the chickens we raise. My whole experience with chickens started over a bad illness somebody got in his family after eating spoiled chicken. His wife says they are nasty cause they live outside(tractor/free range). I let her read the book I had. "At least they don't walk in their own poop inside" she replied..... I stopped arguing...

If someone says they don't want to eat my home-grown chicken or their eggs, I just smile & say "Great! That leaves more for meeeeeee!"

The first time I tasted one of my roasted home-grown Cornish X, with sprigs of fresh rosemary & bruised cloves of garlic stuck under his breast skin, with lemon juice squeezed over him, with more rosemary, garlic, & cut lemons inside, the taste was so incredible I didn't want to eat or drink anything else afterwards that might remove the memory of that taste from my mouth. I really shouldn't have worried, I can still remember that taste today.

How long ago did grandpa work there? Did he report the YUCK going on to the authorities? Was your research first hand or just reading some book by someone with an axe to grind or by an disgruntled employee? Have any of these plants been shut down? It just seems strange that this can be going on with all the safeguard laws and potential blockbuster lawsuits in place today.

All the safeguards in the world are null and void when the inspector walks in the door and gets handed a wad of hundreds. Don't think stuff like that doesn't happen.

Besides, aren't food production places able to have a certain amount of "stuff" in their products? Stuff being anything ranging from workers fingernails, to rat hair, to car oil.
