Yes, compared to other animals, it's inexpensive. But then comes the obsession. You will just have to have one of those breeds, and of course if you want to hatch, you have to have a nice incubator, nothing cheap, you want a good hatch. Hatching is an addiction of it's own of course. And if one get's sick, and they will, you have to treat the whole flock, not just one chicken. Let's see what else I have experienced since I started my "inexpensive hobby". Brooders, yep got to have one of those too, if you hatch chicks to sell. And the list goes on. I wouldn't trade my hobby for anything else. It all depends on your ability to control yourself. See I wanted one of every kind of chicken there is, which there in lies the problem. Of course if you have great self control you're all set. I'm just a weak ole crazy chicken lady!
