What age do Polish cockerels get their wattles usually?

Wattle development also depends on whether the bird is bearded or non-bearded, in addition to sex. Crest can be a better indicator. The second and third are pullets. The first could be a cockerel. Is it a frizzle?

The first is a frizzle. It doesn't have wattles yet. Funny because the breeder tells me that the 3rd (blue) is a boy because of wattles and that the frizzle and cuckoo are girls! So confusing. lol I won't be rehoming them anytime soon.

The blue is also starting to get horns. Would 8 weeks be too young for a pullet to have them or it is the same with wattles as horns. I am so confused. The cuckoo I am pretty certain is a pullet. The frizzle starting to get small wattles also.. It's a much bigger and stockier bird than other two. I think they are more bantam sized though.

Polish can sometimes take a while to reveal their sex. They are confusing, so be patient. It could be another month or two before you know for sure.

Great pics! What did they end up being? Meanwhile, I’m wondering about my less than 4 week old because my daughter said she thinks the wattles are pink!

I’m glad you reopened this thread @PNWskye How are you getting on with your Polish? He/she must be nearly 3 months now?
I also have a Polish that I’m eagerly trying to tell if she is indeed a she... but to make it that much more difficult, she is bearded and a frizzle!! Meet Zasu... the 3 and a half week old...

Actually I'm not sure about the Frizzell one I do see the little horn combs.... sure would be curious to know what they turned out to be

A week by week progress of pullet and cockerel would be good to see... help compare the differences!
