I have a buff polish hen that is almost a year old and is not laying yet. Do they usally take this long? She is in great shape and gets along with the other hens. She is the only polish in the pen so I am about positive she is not laying. All the other hens in the pen lay large brown eggs.

My buff laced Polish just started laying on Feb 8th and she was 26 weeks. She lays every other day so far. Maybe yours is just waiting on the spring weather to arrive.

My silver laced Polish, Phyllis Diller, didn't lay until 31 weeks. She is a little goofy anyway so don't consider this as an average.

My spring and summer hatched chickens do not lay until the following spring, but I am in Maine. They stop about November and don't start again until about late Feb or March.
