What age should you enter your chickens in poultry shows?

My general rule with my ameraucana bantams is six months. I had a 5 month old pullet win Res. Grand Champion Bantam at her first show (Putnam Co. Fair, Indiana judged: Doug Akers). I think bantams mature a bit quicker or maybe look matured quicker than large fowl do.
