what age to eat extra Sussex cockerels

    what would you do, if it were you? Wait til they are bigger, but tougher and have gone thru more feed, or would you eat them at 12-14 wks or so and be done with it?

    Also, would you keep just 1, or also a spare? I expect to have something like 6-7 hens, also might toss the 2 ISA Browns in with them.

    15+ weeks minimum and then they'll still be pretty funn looking once you remove the feathers

    ok, thank you! Yes, I know they will be small and scrawny and not grocerystorelike [​IMG] But I may as well eat 'em since I've got 'em. I like chicken n dumplings [​IMG]

    Really? I have a 10 week old sussex and he is as big as my smaller (RIR) hens! I don't think I'll eat him though [​IMG]

    We processed ours at 16 weeks and they were pretty good sized. They didn't look strange though. They looked tasty [​IMG]
