What all do you feed your turkeys besides turkey food?

We tried out the BBW last year (just to see if we could and help the winter food budget) and are seriously looking at a heritage breed for this year to make a continuing process. They were a lot more fun than I had thought! (plus they taste real good too)

Actually, we do not feed our turkeys turkey food! What seems to work best for me for both my Turkeys & Call Ducks is a 17% laying pellet mixed with 5 way scratch in the off season. During laying season I feed the Laying Pellet & a Game Cock mix - currently the one I use is a 16%. Ours are also in tractors so they are moved onto fresh greenery every week. They all look great & lay well. Our hatch rate is in the high 80% so this seems to work best for me.

What do my turkeys eat( besides Purina Layeena)? Zippers, buttons, and the occasional fingers. Don't worry-they don't swallow. They just sample...

During the warm months, mine free range and eat a ton of fresh clover, grass, dandelions, bugs and wild blackberries (they grow all over my yard). I toss a little cracked corn in a bowl in the morning for the flock just for something extra. In the winter I have them cooped and feed them cracked corn, dry generic dogfood nuggets and non meat scraps from the house. They LOVE dry dogfood! They raid the dog's bowls during the summer like a gang. It's like a warzone out there exccept the dogs never bite them. They're too old and know better. They just bark and do running charges at them.

Ours eat Purina Flockraiser mixed with Layena Pellets. They really like the pellets. They also get whatever greens from my girlfriends resturant. We get at least two buckets of veggies from her everyday. The treat they like best is bread. You can tell they don't get it often.
