what am I seeing??

I have Maran eggs that are chocolate brown, and Olive eggs in my bator. I can not see thru either of them when I candle them. Any one have a solution, I have used powerful lights and still cant see into them. would the color of the eggs keep me from seeing veins?

Yes, the blue color goes clear through the shell and makes them opaque. Marans are almost as bad. I had best luck by waiting until 14 days or even lockdown and then guessed! A completely dark room at night and the strongest lumen flashlight you can find also help. I just started a batch today and added 4 RIR crosses just so I had something to candle early on!

i think the shell is just too dark to tell on these brown ones, i can't find a brighter light and this one's pretty bright! I can tell which ones do not have anything inside them, but the rest??? i'll have to try again tomorrow night and see. the ones that have a moving black dot inside them are the ones i'm happiest about right now lol. there's SOMETHING inside at least!...

so i just realised last night my thermometer wasn't looking right, and put a different one in there, turns out they've only been at 96 the whole time! New one in, now at 99.7-100.1 keeps fluctuating between there. Is it possible that they just wern't developing as fast as they should have which i why i don't see anything??? I candled them this morning and I think I might have seen some very very faint veins in one, and the rest the little black spot is getting bigger!!!
