So pretty! Does the quail crow or make a loud noise? If so that's a male and there will be a white foam that comes from his vent. Females are more quiet and sometimes "sing" when they are looking for a mate. Looks like coturnix quail some have called them pharoah. I don't seem much speckles on the chest which would indicate male. Females usually have speckles covering the chest area whereas males have little to none.So I bought a pair of quail, and for the life of me can’t remember what breed the guy said they were!

I believe that is a female. She has a speckles chest and in my opinion her face is feminine compared to the other lol. If she's alone she may sing for her mate which indicates a female. It will be a chirp sorta like a loud cricket. How old are these ? Very pretty pairThis one is a male! He does crow, and has the foam.
Here is the supposed female. She looks way different than the male, I’m not sure if it’s cause it’s a girl or if different breed?
Thank you! They are both 7 months.I believe that is a female. She has a speckles chest and in my opinion her face is feminine compared to the other lol. Thank you!!The first bird is a Coturnix/Japanese quail, and the second is a different species (Bobwhite maybe?).
