Thanks! I’m honestly not sure how old they are. It’s possible they’re 4 weeks, maybe 6 weeks but looking at photos of other 6wk old Australorps, they’re combs were more developed so idk.... I’ve had them for just under 4 weeks, purchased 9/14 from tractor supply and they were in the “younger” bucket.

I'll get pics of my chicks tomorrow that are 7-8 weeks I have a midnight marans and a grey cochin that will give you an idea of what the chicks look like of the 2 breeds

I think she definitely looks closer to the Midnight Maran! Feet feathers are only on the sides like your photos show. And the same green eyes well both yours have green eyes lol so adorable, love them! Thank you for sharing

Can the leg colors change over time?

Can the leg colors change over time?

Not drastically, but a little. Especially in breeds with yellow shanks.

For example, they could look paler right before they take a rest in laying and more yellow after a molt/resting period. Older birds can also loose color in their shanks because it is caused by carotenoids.

what are your thoughts? I think she’s about 5 weeks old
