What Am I?

Okay, so I think I know where I stand now, but I still have a few questions.












These are supposed to be barred rock hens, but it seems to be a rooster and not a barred rock at all, anyone have any idea what it is? Gender is probably male (I think) but I'm now clueless on breed.






This is the barred rock I've been thinking all this time was a roo, but it looks pretty hen like. Any ideas?

Not sure on the first breed but i would say roo. The others are, in my opinion, pullets.

There are two that are nearly identical, only one is pictured (the first two photos). One of them started crowing recently, but when I bought them, I thought they were barred rocks. I'm not really sure what to make of them as far as breed now, but I definitely agree that they're roosters.

First one looks like a Le Fletch. A french breed whose name refers to the come shaped like the "fletches" of an arrow. The poof would indicate Polish perhaps? Interesting mix!

They're about 13 weeks right now. A couple are maybe 11 weeks.

Also on the (now confirmed cockerels) they were supposed to be barred rocks. I actually wanted a flock full of barred rocks, but I kind of ended up with a mixed flock. So they might be la fleches then?

They are not pure La Fleche chickens. They have a pom on the head. There could be some Polish or Houdan in them, or even some silkie, silkies though have black skin and feathering down the legs. Its hard to tell just which breed gives it the poof, but the comb is unmistakable!!

So since there are two almost identical ones (one is just a hair bigger) I put up an ad on Craigslist. I want to give one away. Any idea on which I should keep? I got one that crows CONSTANTLY, but to my knowledge the other hasn't crowed at all. Thinking about getting rid of the noisier one, but will the quiet one start up once he's gone? Or should I keep the bigger one because he's stronger? I mean I'm not sure what to look for in a rooster to be honest with you.

From what I have read, the submissive roo will set up crowing after the dominant one is gone. So that might not work.

I would suggest watching them and seeing who is the best with the girls. It might take a bit more time as they grow. But be careful, they could fight the older the get.

I like a rooster that is shy of people because I dont want one to think he can suddenly take me on.
