I've not had that problem.No special needs but do be aware blood feathers do break often on feather footed birds so it can be a little unsettling.![]()

That is strange. Weren't yours some of those fancy show quality ones from MPC? I've kept all kinds of feathered footed breeds and never saw a single problem with their feet, others have more trouble, so I can only guess the environment plays a big role in it too.Wow,you're lucky then. Those faverolles of mine are constantly snapping blood feathers on their feet. I've had to work a couple out for them so they wouldn't limp.
I haven't had mites in the feet feathers either, I know I keep repeating myself, but I wonder why my birds are fine, but I'm certainly not complaining.The main thing for feather feet is they like to harbor mites. Yum. Drives me up a wall
Also if you want to show them it's very hard to keep them from breaking off.

It could be where you live. The area I live in has a lot of scaly mites and the feather leg birds seem to be more apt to catch them first.I haven't had mites in the feet feathers either, I know I keep repeating myself, but I wonder why my birds are fine, but I'm certainly not complaining.
