It's caused by a VERY stressful life, BTW.

Reading always makes me only feel good for maybe 5 minutes. Playing games to let off steam only works if you're A. good at it, or B. your brother isn't in the house. Visiting the chickens NEVER works. Running only works for a bit. Being alone makes me feel worthless.

Umm... It's gotten to the point where I cry once every day. Help, please.

Start keeping a journal to get it all off your chest. Then...go DO something, running isn't the only exercise. Listening to my favorite music always helped me. Upbeat music though...no depressing music. If you have too much time to sit around and think about how depressed you are..you NEED to get up and move.

getting ducklings helped me for while but evetually i pulled myself out. i am not fully healed. friends?? that's what i want, but don't have. getting out and going to go do something??? those are what i've wanted to do the past what.. 8 months since my ex bf broke my heart, then beat me up and went to jail and i was left alone. friends abandonded me and what not.

take it day by day and try to do stuff that makes you smile

Does your mood approve when you are out in the sun. If it does then get out in the sun, without sunglasses or sunscreen for at least 1/2 hour a day. Or buy one of those sun/full spectrum lamps. They can be a life saver.

I don't know if your religious or not, but talking to God can really help. So can joining/attending a church or another kind of family type organination.

But remember, that's it's okay to feel sad. The drug companies make us believe that we have to be happy 100% of the time. You may just need a little time to work through your sadness. You don't have to have an obvious reason to be sad, it may just be time for you to be sad. As long as your meeting your basic needs (food, hygiene, etc) and not thinking anything dangerous, then allow yourself a day or two and throw yourself a pity party. Seriously, rent a couple of sad movies and bawl your head off. After a while you may feel better. At least it works for me.

Feel better soon.

Different ways work for different people and if it very bad, then you need to go and talk to someone.
With us being online and not knowing you personally, its hard to give you advice if its real depression.
Are you really depressed or just down?
Ive delt with depression since 6th grade and have hads lots of ups and downs.
For me listening to music helps alot and so does spending time with my pets.
More often then not, I just have to cry and sometimes hit a pillow.
Everyone has their bad days.
Ive recently started taking Sam-e for moods and it helps alot. its at Wal Greens and cost like $35 a box, but for me, its worth it.

Good luck & I hope you get feeling better soon

When I am feeling depressed I go into the shower and have a good cry. Come out and feel alot better. Sometimes you just need to be alone to feel. I also try to keep a list of all the good things that happen everyday. Even if its only something minor then I go over them and realize that there is something good happening.

If you are really drepressed and the things you mentioned are not effective, please visit a doctor. There are lots of things that can be done to help you with your depression. If you are worried about having to take medication, don't be. First of all, there are lots of treatments for depression besides medications. You don't have to keep feeling that down, depression is a medical problem which is different from just "feeling down". You don't have to suffer, there are ways for you to start feeling better if you just reach out for help.

First of all, what's stressing you out?

Talking with family and friends about it helps me.

Exercise and spending time with the chickens also helps me.

I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling depressed.

I've been homebound with a mystery illness and neck problems for the last 4 yrs. I had to give up my Vet Tech job of 11 yrs and driving. I don't go to the grocery store, or church, or anywhere much. Every once in a while I feel ALMOST good enough to go somewhere, so I do. It wears me out, but I try to make the best of it and enjoy my time out of the house the best I can.
I do everything I can to try NOT to get depressed. I used to cry a lot about the things I can't do anymore, but I have learned to focus on the things I can do and be grateful for them. I still have to deal with well meaning friends and family who think I am JUST depressed and that I just don't want to do the things I used to.

Do you like to garden? Thinking about planting flowers helps me. I really can't get down on the ground to plant stuff, but my husband helps with that. And I'm a little lazy about taking care of them when it gets hot and humid here in the summer in GA, so I try to find low maintenance perennials. This spring I wanted to plant some fruit trees. They are really small, but I think about all the things I'm going to do with the fruit once they do start producing.

Music also helps my mood. I like to listen to praise and worship music, classic rock, and 80's music.

I hang out on Facebook everyday too. I'm friends with my church family, ex-coworkers, and family.
I also play a lot of the games on there. I've even made some games "friends'" on the other side of the world.
Recently I've been on BYC as much or more than Facebook.

Not to mention this spring I've become totally obsessed with chickens! I just hatched my first babies, and it was so exciting I want to do it again...but we don't need anymore chickens.

Oh yeah, I once heard someone say that just because a thought comes into our mind - we don't have to keep thinking it- we can make a conscious decision to replace any negative thoughts with positive ones. It takes a while to get in the habit of doing that, but it does help.

You could try finding something or a couple of things you are passionate about and throw your self into it.

I love to learn new things. You can learn how to do almost anything just by researching it on the internet. I've learned how to knit by watching videos on Youtube. I made a baby blanket. It actually turned out pretty decent.

If you ever need someone to talk to you can pm me.

(((((hugs)))))

One more thing..crying releases stress hormones that are built up, so don't feel bad about crying.
