I don't know about you, but when I'm looking at chickens I definitely prefer some colors over others. I think that I might be alone in not liking the color buff: everyone else seems to like it but I just don't really like the orangey color. Same goes with dogs and cats, I'd rather have a not orange one over an orange one. I really like the colors white, blue, and lavender, and I also really like chickens with black and white color patterns, like delawares and light brahmas. Close runner up for me is splash pattern, especially when it's black and white splash.

Good thread.
I love crele.
I actually don't like the colour buff very much. I hate orange, and they're rather close to that for my liking.
I like it because they're chickens. And I have a loyalty to Buff Orps. What can I say.
I also like partridge patterns.
I think that I like the look of buff orp roosters over hens. I think that the darker saddles makes the color look infinitely better. I think that if I had a purebred buff orp I might like it better. I think that the hatchery buff birds have a lighter, more washed out color.

I like all colors, & crazy color patterns. I'm alittle finicky about solid white birds though because they always look very dirty when they take dust baths, or run in the mud on a rainy day.
I'd agree on solid white birds. I probably wouldn't want a white silkie especially, for that reason. My white leghorn is also the best dustbather, and she always looks a bit dirty.

Oh 100% agree.
The boys get nice dark shiny feathers.
Huge difference actually.
I much prefer the cockerels.
Hatchery Orps are something else.

Don't like most white or black birds (black or white with other colors mixed in is fine). I'm not a fan of the dark buffs and holds (like no orange buff orpington) but lighter buffs light bantam buff brahma and buff laced polish I love. Same with buff silkies.
Buff laced polish are wonderful creatures. Not a fan of the other buffs, though. Colors like jubilee orpingtons are very fun because of all the different colors in the pattern.
