What are signs of egg laying in call ducks?

Corn is like candy, empty calories andpackson weight. There are thoughts that it packs fat on around the reproductive organs and that effects fertility. Scratch is a corn based product. We have stop even buying it for the ornamental ducks and went to buying bags of whole grains to hand mix.

These are perfectly acceptable and fed by many:

Nutrena all flock

Purina multi flock

Purina layena or omega 3

We prefer to feed:

Mazuri waterfowl feed

Tractor supply isn't the best source for feed, it is over priced and selections limited. I prefer local feed stores, and or feed mills. They tend to know the feeds better, have better selections, and willing to order in feeds on request.

Poor diet will equal poor looking feathers, poor fertility and no eggs.

If you are in the Chicagoland area, you should be able to get Purina Duck Grower, which is what I use, and it has also been recommended to me that should I want to dump Purina that I might try Big Four made by Buckeye, and Bob's Salt and Feed carries it but does have to order it special. I have previously used Kent Multi-Flock and had good results with that, but haven't used it during breeding seasons.

You should also be providing oyster shell to Call hens for calcium...drakes generally don't touch it, so this makes this way safer than using layer pellet.

So, should I start them on multo flock grower and lay-mor mixed???

Yay. Getting it tomorrow. Just got lay-mor today and gave it to them!

Got the food! With this "correct" diet, when should I expect to see eggs? Not until this coming spring?

I wouldn't hold my breath for eggs this year, but you "may" get some. I also wouldn't Clinton them (if layed) to be fertile, or of good quality because of the diet.
