What are sure fire ways you know your chicken/hen is a bantam?

Ohhh. lol Gothca. Yeah... that could be about the same with Mable. She's so little you just want to pick her up and cuddle her. But she's not into lovey dovey attention.

Let me go see if I can get a new pic of them together. They sleep on top of the coop at night (which is okay because it's inside the run and protected from predators). brb

I'll try and get a picture of my bantam SLW next to my LF SLW tomorrow so you can see the difference in size. I really don't think your hen is a bantam.

I have had 2 Light Brown Leghorns, and the 1st one, who now resides at my parents' house, was soooo small compared to her flock mates. They all grew up and went outside but "Ruby" was tiny still! Her beak was normal size and feathering was complete, she was just tiny. I researched and thought she had to be an OEGB because of her size. Nope, she's a leghorn. Now she is about 25 weeks old and looks like she'll never catch up to other standards but she has gotten bigger. The 2nd one was very small too! Quiet, docile and about half the size of her friend Delaware of the same age, unfortunately I lost her to Marek's Disease before she was fully grown. I have a White Leghorn that I got at 8 weeks and now she is laying, but smaller than the other girls, mostly Wyandottes and Barred Rocks.

I am leaning towards standard as well. It could be that your white hen is just huge

Banties really stand out as smaller than other chickens.

Here are new pics. Maybe she is standard, and just a runt. I thought bantam meant the same as a dogs teacup, toy, medium, standard, large, and extra large sizes. But here are the pics.

Mable looking at me... Gloria looking away as if saying, "Not another picture..."

I know Gloria isn't huge. The rooster is a speckled sussex and is the average (standard) size for his breed. And they get to be around 7 or so pounds full grown. Gloria is smaller than him. So she's not that big either. Just bigger than Mable who is so little. It's easier to tell size difference better in person rather than by pics. I will continue to try and get better pics as time goes on.

I took some pictures today comparing the size of my bantam and LF SLWs. There is no doubt who is the bantam and who isn't in the first two pictures. I took the bantams feeder out of their pen and tried to take pictures of the LF by it, but they didn't cooperate too well.

The LF rooster on the right side of the picture is fairly young yet and has some growing and filling out to do.
