What are the black and red specks?

My BCM hen, lays eggs with these black specks and red (almost looks like blood), specks. Are these safe to eat?
I have in the past, but my wife wanted to know what they are.:idunno

They are probably pigment spots. I get them in my blue copper marans eggs. It's one reason I haven't gotten more of them. I just pick the spots out.

The other option is they are meat spots, which is a bit of product tissue. Pick it out. Those generally are random. The pigment spots are more constant.

My BCMarans also has those in every single egg she lays!!! I think they are called meat spots and they are harmless, I pick them out because I don’t like the way they look.
