You like the "Ancona's", do you mean "Anaconas"? My hatchery catalog lists Anaconas.
The best layers I've ever had are Cinnamon Queens, Rhode Island Reds, Black Australorps, and White Leghorns. I'm getting 90% lay rate from them.

Meyer Hatchery Catalog says they're very flighty and to "admire them from a far" and "not good with children" because they're so high energy and flighty. That's what they say about Anaconas.

Well, I am going to be boringly practical. My 2013 shopping list will include some Easter Eggers and I'm going to try my hand at some freedom rangers. I would love to get some breeds just for fun, but I live in a harsh climate with all sorts of predator issues and have to consider food costs and heat tolerance more than the "pretty" or "I want it!" factor. I might talk myself into some white guineas. I love guineas but have never had white ones. I think they are so pretty.

No idea. That's why they are on my list! My leghorns are so friendly and cuddly I have to pick them up and hug them every morning before I can enter my run. I am not put off by the discriptions any more...until they are right...then I'll change my tune!
