What are the original flock sources for the Ancona?

Do they all end up tracing back to Holderread? I saw somewhere in the Ancona Duck facebook group a mention of Ancona's being around on the United States east coast in the 1930's even though it's said they were only brought over from Britain in the 1960's. So that's one puzzle.

Beyond that, I would really like to know what has been done with it since then. Who has infused what new blood from what breeds, has anyone kept track of any of this? I know Holderread bred in some magpie's, I'm not sure about other breeders though, and it would be nice to know.

I like to think I can make sure my flock is genetically diverse, but if they're all sourced from the same 50 birds, I might as well just buy from whatever breeder I like best rather than jumping through a bunch of hoops.

No, they were actually created here in the US so aren't a British breed like formerly thought.

There is evidence showing they are from the East Coast and there are bloodlines that have no Holderread or crossbreed blood in them. They are a very diverse breed despite former belief
