What are the trending breeds in your area right now?

Ugh.
Swedish Flower Hens.
Death layers.
Marans (especially when people make a big deal about "French" making them different)
Silkies
Cemanis
Autosexing breeds
Any cross that makes colored eggs.
Anything from GFF or rec
Some guy thinks he can charge $$$ for his Rock Fighters, or whatever Liege Fighters crossed with Rocks.
What's worse than fad breeds is fad breeds crossed with other breeds, because it's even more ridiculous that people can still ride the "rare" wave.
There's nothing wrong with these breeds, but all this hype?

Lavender anything.

Blue is my favorite variety, but I don't understand why people love lavender so much. Have they any idea about the shredded feathers that will probably plague my flock for generations to come? The health problems often involved?

Also I totally agree about EE and I hate that feed stores and some hatcheries wrongly sell them as Ameraucana.

Don't get me wrong I love EE too and most EE do have certain characteristics but technically an EE is any mix that carries a blue egg gene.

The name Americana is just misleading.

I agree. I own both, and actually like EE better. But why don't people just call the birds Easter Eggers?

They did make good dinners though. I'm not a fan of Silkies because of their lack of intelligence. They are pretty cute.

There's a lot I could say about Silkies, but I don't feel the need to start a flame war. Imo, they're better off being looked at and nothing else.
